History

Early Years
Deanna Black was born in Austin, Texas to Anastasia and Samuel Black, and was the youngest child in the Black household.
Her elder brother Robert took it upon himself to help raise his much younger sibling in the tumultuous house they lived in that was headed by thieves.
Under her brother's care and guidance, Deanna flourished and developed the ability to instinctually understand machines and technology.
This development spurred a natural creative and curious streak in Dean to new heights, pushing her to do more and indulge her talent by creating a robot that had the ability to learn small, uncomplicated tasks. This plus her love of reading garnered her some minor acclaim and a chance to excel.
Shocking News
Dean found herself pursuing her talent as a full-blown career, attending MIT at the age of 14.
While she was at MIT, she fell in what she thought was love with a boy from a nearby high school. When things went sour with the relationship and she found out the boy had been unfaithful, Deanna tapped into an ability that she didn't know she had in a fit of rage. She hospitalized the unfortunate boy with a shock of electricity and Deanna's world changed.
Keeping a low profile and learning how to manage her wild emotions better was the goal before she left, graduating with three degrees and most of the credits for a fourth.
At 18, Dean's parents stopped funding her learning adventure and she was summarily disowned by the Black family, leaving her with only a few dollars in her pocket.
Growing Pains
Deanna took a few odd jobs and hopped the first bus out to New York. She spent the next few weeks with a friend at a temporary job and quickly made up her mind on what to do next, reclaiming the stolen money her parents stowed away in an offshore account and using the funds to find a small apartment, clothes and land herself a job at Stark Industries.
Robert visited his younger sister in the city and was caught in an attack by a villain, his body never discovered and his family soon declaring him dead. Deanna was devastated and fell into a depression for a while before she picked herself back up and continued on, not wanting to let everything her brother had taught her to go to waste.
Dean climbed the ranks at Stark Industries over the next few years and landed herself a job as a project manager and then as the head of maintenance for the Avengers facility.
Movin' on Up
Deanna relocated into the Upper West Side of Manhattan and fell in love with her neighborhood, soon purchasing an apartment building with a partner that had a bookstore below.
Dean soon found herself lending a hand at The Book Nook downstairs and made friends with the people in the neighborhood, deciding to use the apartment building as student housing for the most part.
When one of the students that she had developed a friendship with came home after getting mugged in the neighborhood, Deanna donned a simple face-covering mask and technologically enhanced goggles and went out into the neighborhood to stop the crime that was affecting the area, taking her long-time anonymous internet handle of 'The Wildling' as her new name.
Anything a Spider can...
While the Wildling was out fighting crime in her area, she came across the Web Warriors and got tangled up in an adventure that dropped her in another universe with them.
Unbeknownst to her, the next love interest that she had while on vacation from her reality would be a man named Peter Parker, and he wasn't a normal boy.
When things got a little heated between them, Peter Parker transformed into Man-Spider and delivered a venomous bite to her shoulder that was designed to kill her. Deanna electrocuted him and tried to make her escape as the venom worked it's way through her system. The Web Warriors intervened and took her to Reed Richards to be cared for.
While in a coma, Deanna was visited by a woman who called herself Arachne, who offered her a deal - join the Web of Life and Destiny of her own free will or perish under the effects of the venom.
A deal was struck between the two and Deanna recovered from the coma, the hideous injury turning into a small scar shaped like a spider to remind her of the deal she made, though the details remain vague to Deanna.
Dean returned to her home universe and New York with the aid of the Web Warriors and a new set of developing Spider-powers along with a gifted set of broken web shooters.
Sleeper's Cell
Deanna incorporated her new powers into her strategy for keeping her neighborhood safe and soon found herself in trouble that was over her usual street-level beat. When her previously-thought-dead brother Robert was revealed to be alive by The Maker, Deanna sought him out.
A casual meeting where Robert asked Dean to join him in 'fixing' the world by ruling it turned into a fight. Robert had gained mutant abilities beyond Deanna's wildest dreams and subsequently won the fight by throwing the Wildling into a building so hard that she landed in the sub-basement among the wreckage.
Broken and bleeding, Deanna soon found out that the building was housing a secret laboratory underneath it and one of its occupants had managed to escape and make contact.
Joining forces with the injured alien named Sleeper, the two fought their way out into the daylight again, slaying the other monsters that had been let loose in the laboratory before they could escape into the city.
The honeymoon didn't last too long, though and in less than two years the pair had split up, leaving Deanna traveling alone again.
Todayโฆ
Today the Wildling is traversing the Web of Life and Destiny as an unnamed totem that is assisting the new Master Weaver with reconstructing the Web and anchoring the worlds that used to belong. Dean is still unsure of the details concerning the bargain she made with Arachne, but she feels that she's duty-bound to use her powers to help people in need.
